Catherine began learning the violin at the age of 5 with Kay Hurwitz, wife of Emanuel Hurwitz, with whom she was to study later. After attending King Edward VI School in Totnes she spent four years at the Royal Academy of Music with Nona Lidell. Since returning to Devon she continues to be in demand as a teacher and freelance performer with orchestral and chamber groups. Catherine has appeared as a soloist with the English Mozart Players and with many local orchestras in the South West including the Ten Tors Orchestra with which she performed Malcolm Arnold’s Double Violin Concerto with Nona Liddell in 2001, and 2003 saw more concerto work with Nona Lidell and the Ten Tors Orchestra.
